A look back at the 4th Oleoline Global Oleochemical Conference
4th Oleoline Global Oleochemical Conference: Key Insights and Market Perspectives
On Friday 29th May 2026, our clients, partners and friends gathered at the 4th Oleoline Global Oleochemical Conference to discuss “how the oleochemical industry continues operating and adapting in the current market environment ?”
It was a great success in a nice location. Despite the heat wave over France making it feel like summertime, we were able to stay focused, work, exchange ideas and enjoy valuable networking.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to all speakers, participants and partners who contributed to a day full of market updates, discussions and networking.
The various presentations delivered an impressive level of data, market updates, trends and insights, helping all of us stay connected to the realities of our market.
While opinions may differ on where markets are heading, several common themes emerged throughout the conference:
- Trade policies became market fundamentals,
- Regionalization of trade continues to accelerate,
- Feedstock availability remains a strategic challenge,
- Biofuels are increasingly competing for oils, fats and alternative feedstocks,
- 1.2 mil mt of new oleochemical capacity is being added despite existing overcapacity,
- Metathesis could become a credible alternative for C10 production among several emerging options,
- Glycerine prices may come under pressure as supply improves.
At HBI Group, we have been active in glycerine, fatty acids, and oleochemical intermediates for 40 years. Events like this are where real market intelligence gets built. Looking forward to the next edition in 2028 !
